It All Started with a Cup of Coffee…

How Mosaic Financial Solutions Got Started

I think a lot about how things fit together.

Why was something made?

Who put it together?

How did they do it?

This sense of curiosity about connections began many years ago when I was given a copy of Can You Drink the Cup? by Henry Nouwen. In his book, he describes community in the form of a large mosaic: “Each little piece seems so insignificant,” he writes, but when you step back and see the complexity and beauty of the whole completed picture, however, you learn the importance of each piece.

(P.S. Highly recommend giving it a read! It’s my greatest treasure in a sea of overflowing bookshelves.)

Ever since, the concept of a “mosaic,” the idea of fitting all the pieces together to form a complete picture, has been a framework used throughout all aspects of my life.

It will probably come as no surprise that I wanted to bring this framework into my work in the financial industry.

For the last 15 years, my career as a financial advisor has largely been one of conversations with people about their needs, joys, dreams, and fears. These are my favorite because they help me understand and provide guidance that makes a difference.

Friends, knowing my background, would also end up sharing their financial situation with me over brunch or coffee meetups. Often, I found they’d be sharing not just the money part but the worry and stress that lies underneath it all.

The idea of a “mosaic” as a financial guide began to take shape.

Finances are complex and overwhelming, but I believe it doesn’t have to stay that way. What if we looked at our personal finances like a mosaic?

There are pieces everywhere: taxes, retirement, investments, debt, and the list continues. When those pieces are organized, your unique financial picture–the one that highlights your own life story and dreams–comes to life.

I decided to open Mosaic Financial Solutions in 2021 because I saw a need for so many younger people to understand their own personal finances. A need to organize what they had and also learn what they should do.

Once we have a grasp on what we have, we can begin to dream about where we want to go. It can all start with a simple conversation, preferred with coffee.

Here’s a bit more about me; I’d love to get to know you, too!

Let’s have coffee. ☕
